How to cut fiberglass grating

Cut fiberglass grating only after completing its entire production. Manual cutting requires the cutting staff to control the machine. Large cutting machines have small errors and need fixing before cutting. When cutting, the installation size should be 2mm-5mm smaller than the customer's requirements. This allows space for the grille panel.

1) Tool selection

Linear cutting: You can cut fiberglass grating on-site with mechanical methods. Use ceramic or diamond disc cutters. Ordinary steel saw blades can cut it, but they are not recommended.

Curve cutting: Use electric or steel saws with metal cutting blades to cut grids, arcs, and curves. The picture shows a portable cutting machine:

Polishing: Use handheld angle grinders, grinding machines, files, or sandpaper.

Drilling: Drill holes over 12mm with Fried Dough Twists drills. Use portable electric hole machines or ordinary electric hand drills for small holes.

2) Conventional cutting method

Type A: Surrounding edges (optional tooth edges)

Surrounding edges

Beautiful and neat, but relatively high cost. The grille is wrapped with edges. Its length and width must be: N (number of grids) * single grid size (38.1) + grid width (7) mm. It is commonly used for whole page installation in car wash rooms.

Type B: Edge wrapping

Edge wrapping

Neat, relatively high cost. One set of edges must meet A-type size. The other set must be symmetrically cut.

Type C: Adjacent bread edges

Adjacent double-sided edging

D-type: Three sided bread edge

Three bread edges

After paving, it is neat and relatively beautiful, commonly used in trenches and corridors.

E-type: sequential cutting method

Sequential cutting method

The most economical methods, like full, no, and partial edge wrapping, may coexist after paving. They may be messy, so it's best to avoid them.

3) Cutting error

The cut grid's accuracy is ± 5mm. This is due to factors like the blade width and its angle to the grid.

4) Detail processing after cutting

After cutting is completed, resin needs to be used for coating processing. The resin used should have more stable properties than grid resin. For example, ortho benzene type grids use meta benzene resin to cover the cutting surface. It protects the exposed glass fibers from erosion after cutting.

be careful:

a. This material cannot be turned or tapped.

b. Arbitrary cutting will not affect the grille's properties. It won't cause scattering or other issues.

c. The fiberglass grating cover on the entire side looks neater. It is stronger under stress and less likely to cause injury during installation.

d. When cut into rough edges, there will be edges and burrs, which are slightly less stressed. When the load-bearing capacity is too high, the edges are easily damaged, but it can save materials. So, it is best to cut the fiberglass grille cover and tree grate of the car wash room as much as possible into a whole edge. This will ensure load-bearing capacity and aesthetics.

e. Fiberglass grating cover plates are usually 1.22 * 3.66. This is for easy handling, transport, and installation. They are usually cut along the 3.66 direction, with a width of 1.22 as the length. This makes them small and easy to package, transport, and install.

Understanding Asbestos Sheet: A Comprehensive Guide

Asbestos sheet , also known as asbestos rubber sheet, is a versatile material composed primarily of asbestos fibers, rubber, and various fillers. This combination results in a durable and resilient sheet that finds extensive application in industrial settings. Asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral, is known for its heat and fire resistance. When combined with rubber and other materials, it forms a composite that retains these properties while adding flexibility and durability. The resulting asbestos sheet can withstand high temperatures and pressures, making it ideal for use as a sealing material in various industrial applications. The manufacturing process involves compressing the mixture of asbestos, rubber, and fillers into sheets of varying thicknesses. These sheets can be cut and shaped to fit specific requirements, making them highly adaptable for different uses. For instance, asbestos sheets are commonly used as gaskets, packings, and seals in pipelines, valves, and other equi...

Top 5 Benefits of PTFE Packing Seals for Extreme Temperature Applications (2025 Guide)

"PTFE seals revolutionized our turbopump operations during Artemis V testing last June," says Dr. Lu- an engineer working at Hengshui Hongwo , Senior Materials Engineer at Lockheed Martin. "They withstood 650°F cyclic loads that destroyed traditional materials in 72 hours." Field Engineer's Tip: When installing in cryogenic valves, always pre-compress seals at 20% higher than operating temeprature (common oversight in field maintenance). Use torque wrenches calibrated to ISO 6789-2017 standards. 1. Unmatched Thermal Cycling Stability PTFE packing maintains 98.7% seal integrity after 5,000 thermal cycles (per ASTM F1467-2024 testing), far outperforming graphite alternatives. This 热循环稳定性 proves critical in aerospace thrusters that swing from -320°F (liquid hydrogen temps) to 1000°F during operation. The secret? PTFE's unique molecular structure "unfolds" during expansion yet recovers shape—like memory foam for industrial seals. 2. Creep Re...

How to cut fiberglass grating

Straight Cutting Straight cutting is the most common way to process glass fiber reinforced plastic  grating . It is mainly suitable for straight edge trimming or cutting to specific sizes. There are many methods of straight cutting, including the following: Mechanical cutting: This method uses tools like a ceramic disc or a diamond grinding wheel. It uses mechanical equipment for cutting. This method is efficient. It has smooth, sharp edges. It is widely used in industry. When operating, ensure the cutting machine is secure. Set the cutting speed to avoid vibration and heat, which can affect quality. Manual cutting: Use a common steel saw blade for manual cutting when conditions are limited or for small batches. Manual cutting is less efficient. But, it is highly flexible. It is suitable for on-site temporary work or small-scale production. When cutting, keep the saw blade sharp. Apply even force to ensure a smooth edge. Curve Cutting Curve cutting mainly processes complex s...
